Back pressure turbine
A steam turbine whose exhaust steam pressure is greater than atmospheric pressure is called a back pressure turbine. Exhaust steam can be used for heating or supplying original medium and low pressure steam turbines to replace medium and low pressure boilers in old power plants. The latter is also called a front-mounted steam turbine, which can not only increase the power generation capacity of the original power plant, but also improve the thermal economy of the original power plant. The exhaust pressure design value of the back pressure steam turbine for heating depends on different heating purposes; the back pressure of the front steam turbine is often greater than 2 MPa, depending on the steam parameters of the original unit. After the exhaust steam is used in the heating system, it is condensed into water, which is then pumped back to the boiler as feed water. In general, the condensed water of the heating system cannot be fully recovered, and supplementary water is required.
